San Diego’s Hey, Chels have released their debut full-length Everything Goes digitally for FREE on Bandcamp. The LP is also streaming on DSPs and will be released on vinyl later this year via Brainworm Records.
The band says, “Our reasoning is that we don’t feel right asking for money right now with the current state of everything. If you feel like helping the band out, share us with a friend, add us to a playlist, share us on your socials, we would very much appreciate it.”

The follow up to the band’s well-received 2019 self-titled EP, Everything Goes was recorded by Pat Hills at Earthtone Studios in Sacramento, CA.
Due to the current state of the world Hey, Chels had to cancel all tour plans but will be back out as soon as it’s safe again.

Hey, Chels is what you get when you spend 10 years of your life working for a degree you’ll never pay off. It’s realizing the whole world is terrible, while also serving as a reassuring pat on the cheek that everything is going to be ok. It’s a warm summer day and a cold winter night. Hey, Chels is a four-piece rock n roll band from San Diego fronted by Jax Mendez (New Way On) and featuring Stephanie Presz (The Newports) on drums, Kevin White (Squarecrow) on guitar, and Ricky Schmidt (Western Settings) on bass.
All-star modern metal band IMONOLITH released their highly anticipated debut album, State of Being, this past March. Like many bands in the music industry, they have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and were forced to cancel their European tour dates in March and April.

While the guys have isolated themselves at home, they’re still in daily contact with each other, keeping their creative juices flowing. Even though they are separated across the globe from each other, the members of IMONOLITH have been able to put together something special for fans entitled “The Quarantine Sessions.”
Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen explains in further detail: “It’s tough times for everyone world-wide with COVID-19. The music industry and bands world-wide have literally been shut down from touring, from doing press tours and anything to do with public appearances. IMONOLITH has come up with the ‘Quarantine Sessions’ for our supporters in correlation with our debut album release ‘State of Being,’ which came out on March 27th, 2020. What are the ‘Quarantine Sessions?’ They are videos released on our YouTube page, each Monday at 8 a.m. PST, of the full band playing through a song on our debut album. We will be releasing a new song every Monday until we have finished all 10 songs on our album. Then on every Tuesday, at 9 a.m. PST we will be doing a ‘Quarantine Session Live Feed’ on our Instagram page to talk about the song we released on Monday. We’ll go into many behind-the-scenes specifics about each song we release and do a live Q&A with you all. Let’s hang, have some fun and catch up, while self-isolating at home during these challenging times!

IMONOLITH features drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush). The collective of heavy-hitting players is at the top of their game recently releasing their debut album, State of Being,on March 27. The album features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that center around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.
The album has already seen the release of four singles and videos – “Hollow,” the 2019 debut single that made big waves, racking up 216K Spotify streams, “Instinct,” “Dig,” and the most recent single, “Becoming The Enemy.” With the release of these singles, IMONOLITH has already received worldwide praise that has garnered them a massive number of streams and attention from the media and fans alike.
Avant-pop/dark R&B artist BANKS has released an EP entitled Live and Stripped, stating that she is “using music as a tool to bring us together.” BANKS utilizes her music to release her emotions, which is both apparent through her lyrics and the raw vocals heard on this EP.
One of her messages to fans was: “My new Live and Stripped EP is out today! I’m so excited to be able to share these stripped back versions of my songs with you.
Most of my songs are written on the piano before anything else, so it is a gift to be able to share these acoustic versions of songs with my fans during this tough time. We cannot physically be near each other right now, so I am using music as a tool to bring us together.”

“One Week of COVID-19”
Beginning on a light note, we are sharing a parody of “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies, performed by Pepper Coyote and titled “One Week of COVID-19”. Originally written by Dana Jay Bein (aka @daniAWESOME), some of you might recognize a reference to a rather unique anime that you explored on Netflix while shut in. #NoSpoilers:
One of the first we saw hit the internet was “Coronavirus Rhapsody”, and while there are multiple coronavirus parodies born from Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, we chose to share the version performed by Adrian Grimes, with lyrics by Dana Jay Bein:

Same have criticized the parody as being insensitive. Grimes addressed those opinions in his video description:
“I’ve had a few comments suggesting that this is ‘insensitive’. I want to emphasize that I know where these people are coming from. My wife works in healthcare and I have two young kids; I know very well how this virus could impact my family. Every day that my wife goes to work, I hope it is another “bonus” day we get together before the wave hits and I don’t have to quarantine her and stop our children from hugging her. However, I hope that even in those circumstances, should they occur, I will still be able to maintain a sense of humor, and a lot of comments from people already affected by coronavirus have told me how much they appreciate this. I thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times.”
Maestro Ziikos took a bit of a different approach with his own compilation of manipulated clips of President Trump to form the “Coronan Rhampsody”:

Chris Mann, a second season contestant on NBC’s The Voice has made a bundle of pandemic-themed music videos, and doesn’t seem to plan on stopping. Here are a few of them:

PHOENIX – Grey Daze, Chester Bennington’s pre-Linkin Park band, in partnership with Loma Vista Recordings, have re-scheduled the release of Amends to June 26.
The 11-song album, which was created to honor both the legacy of Bennington and to see one of his final dreams, the reunion and re-recording of the band’s long out-of-print and largely undiscovered catalog, to completion.
With an abundance of concern for those that need to spend time with their loved ones over the coming weeks due to Covid-19, the band and label came to the difficult decision to postpone the album’s release.
“This album means so much to Chester’s family, and to us and our families, that we didn’t want to release it in the midst of this crisis,” explained Grey Daze co-founder, drummer Sean Dowdell. “Having said that, we know there are a lot of fans who pre-ordered the album, have been watching the various videos and behind-the-scenes footage we’ve been sharing and we didn’t want to let them down either, so we came up with the idea of an April 10 worldwide listening session.”
Amends will be live streamed in its entirety via a series of fan-hosted, worldwide listening parties on April 10, across a variety of online platforms. Tune-in times and additional information for these listening parties will be revealed over the coming weeks via the Grey Daze socials. People who previously pre-ordered the album will receive their order on, or by, June 26.
The Phoenix-based band re-launched their website this morning, offering a unique glimpse into Chester Bennington’s original band and offering fans an opportunity to get early access to downloads by signing up for the band’s newsletter, dive into the deluxe CD, LP and merch offerings and learn more about the story of Chester, Grey Daze and the making of Amends.
Since the band announced the forthcoming album release, they have released a pair of singles: “Sickness” (the accompanying video, which tells a story from Dowdell and Chester Bennington’s long-running friendship can be seen here) and “What’s In The Eye”. “Sickness” is expected to enter the top 10 on the Active Rock radio chart this week.
Amends is the origin story of one of modern rock’s most recognizable voices and also a full circle moment among friends. The album is the fulfillment of a planned Grey Daze reunion that Chester had announced prior to his untimely passing. The remaining band members – Dowdell, Mace Beyers (bass) and Cristin Davis (guitar) – along with Talinda Bennington (Chester’s widow) and his parents, made it their mission to see the project through with assistance from Tom Whalley, the founder of Loma Vista Recordings and former Warner Bros. Records Chairman during Linkin Park’s tenure at the label.
Dowdell, Beyers and Davis selected the tracks from the band’s mid-90s, but largely unknown, catalog and re-recorded the music in 2019 to accompany Chester’s re-mastered vocals. Produced by Jay Baumgardner, several musicians leant their time and talent to the album, including Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer, Page Hamilton (Helmet), Chris Traynor (Bush, Helmet, Orange 9MM), LP (Laura Pergolizzi), Jaime Bennington, Jasen Rauch (Breaking Benjamin), Marcos Curiel (P.O.D.) and Ryan Shuck (Orgy).
Amends is available in a variety of collectible formats with several iterations available exclusively via the band’s website. The CD comes as a 16-page case-bound book; a first pressing, ruby red vinyl variant exclusive to the band’s webstore; and a numbered deluxe edition featuring both a CD and LP, which includes the first ever disc tray designed for vinyl, a 60-page book with never-before-seen photos, 180g red and white splattered vinyl, and a collectible set of band memorabilia dubbed the “Grey Daze Archive.” Digital and other standard versions of the album are available here. Pre-orders include instant downloads of “What’s In The Eye” and “Sickness.”
LOS ANGELES — Toshi Kasai, the producer/engineer who has worked with a number of the era’s most experimental and groundbreaking artists including Tool, Big Business, Foo Fighters and the Melvins has spent the past several years recruiting some of the world’s best drummers to take part in Plan D, an experimental project that sees him “translate” drum beats into a medley of music via the use of triggered analog synths.

“Toshi Kasai understands us drummers. This amazing collection of drum vignettes is a perfect example of how Toshi hears the music in our rhythmic patterns. I am not sure how he did it, something including MIDI I presume, but none of that matters, Plan D stands on its own as a completely new musical entity and I’m super proud to be a part of it.” – Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden)
The result of those sessions come via four 12” releases arriving throughout 2020. The first is SW, which is available now, or you can pre-order the full collection (SW, NE, SE, NW) as a discounted bundle via Joyful Noise Recordings’ website. Each 12″ is limited to just 300 hand-numbered copies. Featuring artwork by Mackie Osborne, with all four parts forming one complete “treasure map.”
“Plan D is a musical demonstration built for Dimension, Duration, and Dynamics,” explains Toshi. “My long time desire became real and it’s even better than I planned because of the support from talented, experienced drummers. The unique and individual styles of drumming each tell a different story. It became an experimental, conceptual project. I directed their stories by writing notes on the synthesizer and triggering them by drum hits.”

Jimmy Eat World announce their Criminal Energy Tour today. Amanda Palmer has teamed up with friends, including The Dresden Dolls bandmate and acclaimed drummer Brian Viglione, to release a collaborative album for charity — Forty-Five Degrees – A Bushfire Charity Flash Record. The album includes contributions from Jherek Bischoff (who was a member of Palmer’s Grand Theft Orchestra), Clare Bowditch, Fred Leone, Missy Higgins, and Montaigne.
Funded by Palmer’s supporters on her Patreon, all profits are going to an Indigenous Australian-led organization called Firesticks Alliance in response to Australia’s 2019-2020 bushfire season.
In a public post on her Patreon, Palmer says, “all the artists involved are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done – my phone is covered in texts dripping with excitement. i kinda cannot believe we pulled off a record that sounds THIS powerful THIS fast. i just got off the phone with a journalist who was like: ‘holy shit, this record is actually really amazing.’ and i was like: YEAH IT IS. do not underestimate the power of fast art.”

While Palmer has toured in Australia for three months in support of There Will Be No Intermission, she recorded the album in Melbourne. There, Palmer and her husband, author Neil Gaiman, will be hosting a bushfire benefit on March 8. Tickets to “Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer Present a Bushfire Recovery Event”, including 18+ VIP Meet & Greets, are available through Ticketmaster and will certainly sell out.
Theatrical metal band Raven Black will preview their upcoming third album, The Key, on The In-Between Tour this spring with In This Moment, Black Veil Brides and DED.
The nearly-two-month-long tour will begin March 24 in Orlando and will continue through May 16.

Raven Black’sDark Metal Carnival story began when a voodoo doctor, The Doctor, happened upon a lost and scared little girl named Raven. Using his magic, The Doctor attempted turned the girl into a doll. The Doctor’s attempt, however, was interrupted by the terrified girl’s screams, leaving her in a half-human, half-doll state. As Raven lived in the dark world of the Doctor, she secretly learned his magic and conjured up a demon named Muppet, whom she trapped inside of her heart and made her eternal protector. Together, The Doctor and Muppet created another character, Stitches, to help search for souls to join the Dark Metal Carnival in the 13th hour.
Together, the quartet has created a soundtrack to the Dark Metal Carnival, releasing the 2016 EP Seven Sins and the 2018 album 13. The band has toured extensively, perfecting a creepy live show that unifies the visual and aural aspects of Raven Black.

SEATTLE — Neptune Theatre was graced with the haunting vocals, jovial spirit, and authentic expressions of Bat for Lashes, granting an intimate and ethereal atmosphere to those in attendance. It had been a few years since she last journeyed from England to the United States, and as she stepped out to begin the concert, a hand from the cheering audience extended a bouquet of flowers to her. The beloved artist graciously accepted the gift with a warm smile, and she made her way to center stage. Donning a regal red lace-tiered gown, surrounded by seven electric lanterns, she shifted the tone in the auditorium as she stood still with her hands placed on the mic, raising her eyes toward the balcony, and began her performance with the synthy, notably 80s-influenced opening track of her latest album Lost Girls.
Bat for Lashes is the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Khan, who was accompanied by the keys and angelic backup vocals of Laura Groves. With a uniquely low and breathy vocal tone in general, Khan’s impressively wide vocal range is noteworthy as she frequently traverses to the soprano end of her range.
At times Groves’ operatic high notes were quite a palatable complement as she harmonized with her partner on stage. Throughout the night, Khan would go on to alternate between singing while sitting at the keys and standing at the mic – twice gently playing a pink Stratocaster guitar.
This came across as a slightly dressed-down performance for the musician, who has been known to whimsically dance around the stage and pick up a variety of interesting instruments.
But this more reserved presence may have lent itself to more opportunities for Khan to be an impactful storyteller between songs, which was an enriching experience.
She explained that as she is also a filmmaker, she wrote her concept album The Bride as if she were writing a film.
