French Deathcore Heavyweights Betraying The Martyrs Return to North America for Summer Rapture Tour

French deathcore heavyweights Betraying The Martyrs will return to American shores this summer for their first-ever headline tour of North America. The “Summer Rapture Tour 2019,” also featuring support from Entheos, Within Destruction, Sentinels and Defying Decay, will kick off on June 28 in Stanhope, N.J.

A Preview of What’s to Come On the “Summer Rapture Tour

We are beyond excited to cover US soil on our first full US headlining tour,” says vocalist Aaron Matts. “To be able to play a full energetic set to an audience that has been with us since day one is an absolute honor for us! Along with a stacked line-up of sick bands, we’re all stoked to get on the road! Come to a show and lose yourselves with us all, see you all in the pit!”

The band recently also announced a new partnership with Chris Adler‘s management company, Kintsugi Management and is working on a new album. Betraying The Martyrs will play new songs from the upcoming album for the very first time on this tour.

Kintsugi is proud to be working with Betraying The Martyrs,” Adler says. “I’m honestly excited to be working with a group of friends with a united vision. Betraying The Martyrs is doing something very special. It’s labeled metalcore because it’s easy to put every band in a box, but in this case, that is a mistake. They have taken time to study and have salvaged and fine-tuned all that I love in metal music. It’s an exciting time for the band. We believe in the guys and there’s an incredible new album soon to drop. The band continues to grow a dedicated, international fan base via their hard work, vision and brutally contagious music. The new Betraying The Martyrs album is going to change the game. I’m sincerely thrilled to be involved with a group of people that focus and deliver.”

Matts adds, “We are beyond excited to announce our collaboration with the legendary Chris Adler and Kintsugi Management. To be on board the same ship as Chris and his incredible team has breathed new life into what we do. Their backing support goes beyond anything we have known previously. It’s truly an honor. With our next release in the barrel and ready to be fired into the world, we could not be any more prepared for the road ahead. We announce our signature to Kintsugi with great pride.”

The Paris-based band’s last album, The Resilient, was released via Sumerian Records in 2017 and showcased a unique songwriting dynamic unrivalled within their genre. Followed by worldwide touring in support of the record, Betraying The Martyrs cemented their position as the European Kings of 21st Century Metal.

Industrial Pop Outfit AESTHETIC PERFECTION Reveals Eccentric Music Video for “Gods & Gold”, Featuring Guitars by Richard Z. Kruspe of RAMMSTEIN

Los Angeles-based producer Daniel Graves has been turning heads with his addictive industrial pop project, Aesthetic Perfection, for nearly two decades. Since forming in 2000, Graves has released five full-length albums, numerous singles and music videos, all the while reinventing what it means to be a dark electro artist. Blending industrial, pop, goth, and everything in between, Aesthetic Perfection defies definitions in a world that demands them.

Today marks the release of the visually stunning and eccentric new music video for “Gods & Gold“, an instantly gripping industrial pop crossover anthem with an unforgettable hook that listeners will be humming for days. The track features scorching guitars by the inimitable Richard Z. Kruspe of Rammstein, who adds an extra aggressive punch to the tune. Watch the deliciously avant garde video now via Alternative Press HERE.

Aesthetic Perfection mastermind Daniel Graves says about “Gods & Gold“:Gods & Gold was a very challenging song for us to work on. I really wanted to push the envelope here and try something new. We’d been tinkering with it for quite some time and it was just coming up short. Once our friend Richard Kruspe expressed interest in playing on the record, I instantly knew he was the missing puzzle piece. I didn’t even realize I’d had his playing style and vibe in mind when I was writing the track until that very second. Then BOOM, just like magic it all came together. It instantly became our favorite song and obvious choice for the first track on the album. Of course, we’re all enormous Rammstein fans and honored to finally work with Richard in a professional capacity.”

Aesthetic Perfection Into The Black

Gods & Gold” is cut from Aesthetic Perfection‘s fifth and latest studio album, Into The Black, which hit stores everywhere on March 29 via Close to Human Music. Featuring an all-star cast of collaborators such as the aforementioned Richard Z. Kruspe, Jinxx of Black Veil Brides, Mick Kenney of Anaal Nathrakh and Krischan Wesenberg of Rotersand, Into The Black is the most mature Aesthetic Perfection album to date. Fans can order Into The Black and “Gods & Gold” now via Apple Music, Amazon and Bandcamp. Physical editions and merch are available HERE, and the album can be streamed via Spotify.

Into The Black features acclaimed drummer Joe Letz, recognized for his work with artists such as Emigrate (also featuring Richard Z. Kruspe), Combichrist, Wednesday 13, Genitorturers and several other top heavy music artists.

Dark and gritty, yet undeniably catchy and melodic, Into The Black builds upon the band’s past while solidly keeping its eyes focused on the future. From the haunting electronic melodies of “Supernatural” to the twangy guitars of “Echoes“, from the punch-to-the-gut beat of “No Boys Allowed” to the soaring highs of “Mourning Doves“, Daniel Graves takes the transgressive art form known as industrial pop to the next level.

Aesthetic Perfection will head out on a full North American headline tour beginning September 6, 2019 in San Diego, CA. The tour will feature support artist Empathy Test and will visit over a month’s-worth of cities, coming to a close in Los Angeles, CA on October 19. See below for all tour dates, and visit Aesthetic Perfection‘s website HERE for tickets and HERE for VIP information.

Progressive Metal Quartet Valence Reveals Jam-Influenced, Eclectic New Track, “Walrus”

New York-based progressive metal fusion quartet Valence recently announced the release of their upcoming album, Cognitive Dissidents, out April 12, 2019. Expertly fusing genres like metal, rock, jam, classical, jazz, and more, Valence‘s varied, yet cohesive, influences offer every listener a passport to a new state of mind that is cerebral and emotive, while not sacrificing accessibility.

Today, Valence have revealed a third new track from Cognitive Dissidents, entitled “Walrus“, which is available to stream via New Noise Magazine HERE.

Guitarist Geoffrey Schaefer says about the track: “‘Walrus‘ is one of the more eclectic songs on Cognitive Dissidents that really highlights the way we incorporate jam band influences in with the progressive metal. You can really hear this about two and a half minutes into the song, as well as with the section that comes about five minutes in. It’s also one of the longer songs on the album, but one that we don’t think feels long.”

“Damnit, Lana!” Music Video
“Preferred Nomenclature” Full Band Playthrough

Cognitive Dissidents, the ambitious follow up to their Independent Music Award-winning 2014 EP, Laser Baron, was recorded and produced at Westfall Studios in Long Island, NY.

Valence wastes no time in launching Cognitive Dissidents intro the stratosphere with lead single “Damnit, Lana!” (linked above), setting the course for what is about to be one hell of a ride. Rock technicality blends into a seductive Latin fusion-inspiredsection driven by multi-talented percussionist Chris Romano, only to finish as an unrelenting metal opus. “II. Calmer Than You Are” shows the softer side of Valence, illustrating a synth-laden soundscape led by bassist Wilhelmus Sapanaro. The band continue to flex their tech-muscles on tracks like “III. Preferred Nomenclature“, in which guitarists Michael Buonanno and Geoffrey Schaefer burn through over five minutes of deft ebb and flow – fluxing between absolute mano-a-mano, battle-like shreddery, deep grooves and classically-influenced passages. “Walrus“, amid its journey, provides an unexpected mid-track jam trip before the album closes with “Red Sky at Morning” – a 14+ minute sonic escapade that can only be described as positively monumental.

Rather than utilizing samples, bassist Wilhelmus Sapanaro performed upright bass and cello and guitarist Michael Buonanno performed violin and viola on Cognitive Dissidents to maintain an organic sound.

“…Valence is a style unto themselves, and listening to them is more about a direct connection to the moment than a study of any genre.”
William Berger, Author, Wagner Without Fear et al.;
Producer and Commentator, the Metropolitan Opera

“Ever watch a band enjoy themselves so much while playing live, that their mood becomes Infectious? It’s literally impossible not to smile while these dudes are having the best time on stage. It also helps that they can all super shred on their instruments too.”
Metal Injection

“If you love some of the acrobatic, complex, and heavy material of current acts like Scale the Summit, Between the Buried and Me and Animals as Leaders, this is a band you need to check out.”
Sea of Tranquility

“When we hear prog, we actually expect the music to suck hard like a mouthful of coarse-grade sandpaper, because we know it’s a clever ruse. It’s a way for many failed musicians to pretend they have relevance. Valence, however, have given us more to expect out of this “prog” thing…”

Dark Folk/Post Rock Project SULDUSK Reveals “Lunar Falls” Full Album Stream

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Suldusk – a new project led by other-worldly front woman Emily Highfield – weaves acoustic tones of dark folk with elements of doom, atmospheric black metal and post rock. Suldusk will release their debut full-length album, entitled Lunar Falls, on April 12, 2019. The album is available for pre-order now via Bandcamp.

As an early gift to listeners, Suldusk is streaming their entire new album a full two weeks early! Stream it now via Decibel Magazine HERE.

Emily Highfield says, “It is very exciting to finally release Lunar Falls, the first Suldusk album. It has realized my vision of fusing acoustic elements with post rock and metal influences.”

In addition to the digital version, Lunar Falls will also be released as a Collector’s Edition Digipack-CD (first press, limited to 1000 copies) and LP (limited colored vinyl with poster) via the Northern Silence Productions Webshop or Bandcamp page. The black/white half-and-half edition of the vinyl, which is limited to only 99 copies, is only available via the NSP webshop while stock lasts.

Check out Suldusk‘s latest music video for the track “Aphasiahere:

Lunar Falls‘ undercurrent theme is about living on the margins, and the intolerable suffering and sacrifice in the quest for identity. Nature provides much of the lyrical inspiration as the source of refuge and guidance throughout this quest. Lunar Falls is dedicated to the memory of late singer-songwriter Aleah Starbridge (Trees of Eternity).

With Lunar Falls, Emily Highfield explains that she wants to convey an escape to a soothing and real place. Her organic, earthly approach to music creates an immersive soundscape – a powerful panorama of shimmering guitars, haunting melodies and atmospheric density.

Highfield says, Lunar Falls is a sonic midnight forest trek – at times beguiling and soothing, and at once harsh and raw. Like nature itself. Bands that inspire me are immersive, honest and risk takers. I’m inspired by and love acoustic-driven and atmospheric/depressive metal – like Agalloch, Opeth, Saor, Unreqvited, Heretoir and Trees of Eternity.”

Suldusk first turned heads a few years ago after front woman and then-solo artist Emily Highfield uploaded some of her compositions to Soundcloud. When the melancholic black metal-infused acoustic track “Drogue” ended up reaching over 10,000 plays in less than a month, Highfield knew she was onto something great. This inspired Highfield to create the live and current incarnation of Suldusk – a chamber metal ensemble which has since been embraced by audiences and underground musicians alike.

Lunar Falls was engineered, mixed and produced by Mark Kelson, with additional engineering by Jesse Oberin. The album was mastered by Joseph Carra at Crystal Mastering.

3. The Elm
4. Aphasia
5. Three Rivers
6. Autumnal Resolve
7. Catacombs
8. Nazaré
9. Drogue
10. Sovran Shrines

Emily Highfield, the sole creator of Suldusk, has succeeded in creating thoroughly entrancing musical experiences through seamless juxtapositions of contrasting musical styles. Even her vocals are representative of those contrasts – both caustic in their acidity and beautifully ethereal in their clarity.”
No Clean Singing

“Mysterious, hypnotic, compelling songwriting. Haunting and beautiful, very original – gentle, soothing, and then at times unexpectedly powerful when it conjures other-worldly dark screams from the collective sub-conscious – like Mother Nature venting her fury!”
David Hirschfelder, Internationally award-winning soundtrack composer

“Varyingly described as acoustic Black Metal, Blackgaze or Doom Folk, Suldusk have a sound that is entirely their own and utterly captivating… While no comparison can truly capture the magic of Suldusk, fans of Opeth‘s ‘Damnation‘ album are likely to be impressed.”

New York Hardcore Heavyweights BRICK BY BRICK to Release New Album, “Hive Mentality”

Born out of Troy, NY’s infamous hardcore scene, Brick by Brick – featuring Mike Valente (Guitars), Andy Parsons (Bass), Ray Mazzola (Vocals, ex-Full Blown Chaos), and James Muller (Drums) – have relentlessly cultivated their reputation as a staple force of hybrid hardcore metal. Solidifying and reviving their sound in recent years with the addition of Mazzola on vocals, the band’s perspective is fresh with formidable intent.

Brick by Brick exemplifies a working-class band.” – New Noise Magazine

Hive Mentality out February 22, 2019

Brick by Brick return in 2019 with their seventh studio album, Hive Mentality – an onslaught of brutal ferociousness. The album is scheduled to be released on February 22, 2019 via Upstate Records, and will be available to pre-order via major digital retailers beginning January 11.

Pre-Order Beginning January 11 Here

Produced by Jason Bourdeau, the album was recorded at Overit Media in Albany, NY, with mastering by legendary Alan Douches of West West Side Music.

Check out a brand new Hive Mentality album teaser now via YouTube

Raising a massive middle finger to the establishment, Hive Mentality is a battle cry to all that is wrong with the world, yet signifying that all is right with heavy music convergence. Epitomizing the tone of the title track “Hive Mentality“, track guest Jessica Pimentel (Alekhine’s Gun vocalist, Orange is the New Black actress) seethes “Get the fuck out of the way or get trampled,” with a ranting rage. Based upon true events, track five, entitled “Bar Is Open“, sums up Brick by Brick flawlessly in their declaration of, “We live to drink/We love to fight/We bring the party/Rage through the night.” That statement is further emphasized by none other than guest vocalist Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan). The Acacia Strain‘s Vincent Bennett further exudes the savagery of Hive Mentality with his vocal spot on “In The Ruins“, before the album reaches its apex with a blistering rendition of Motörhead‘s “Iron Fist“, a sonically-heated kick like a belt of Jack that Lemmy himself would have savored and tipped his hat to.

Vocalist Ray Mazzola says, “It was an honor to have our guest vocalists join us for this album. We wrote it knowing all along that Tony from Municipal Waste/Iron Reagan was going to sing on ‘Bar Is Open‘, and it turned out that a few of the more thrash-edged songs were inspired by him. Vincent of The Acacia Strain agreed to redo an old tune of ours, ‘In The Ruins‘, that was featured as a limited edition run that he collaborated with us on. It needed to be heard internationally. Last but not least, Jessica Pimentel from Orange Is The New Black/Alekhine’s Gun was a perfect choice for the middle rant on ‘Hive Mentality‘, portraying anger from a woman’s perspective.”

Brick by Brick brings one metal riff after another, interwoven with slamming breakdowns and a relentlessly rhythmic battering. Hive Mentality transcends beyond genres – it embraces the angst within each soul from any heavy music scene and brings solace to every metalhead, muscle head, hardcore kid, and old school punk who’s been internally bleeding and eternally screaming in defiance.

“When it comes to by the number, blue-collar heavy hardcore there isn’t a need for a whole lot of innovation and Brick by Brick understands this. And that’s not a thinly veiled shot at the band. If you want to hear aggressive music firmly anchored in tradition, you will find it…” – PunkNews

Will Ash tells PureGrainAudio.com: “We’re lucky to have the opportunity to record with some amazing gear. This latest record, Part II, and The Wicked King: Part I were both recorded with a blend of amazing guitars and amps including a Mesa Mark IV, Peavey 5150 (block letter), and more. Inferno” live footage music video
Behind-the-Scenes Part 1 – “Into the Depths

The Crown Remnant have mastered the art of melodic, theatrical, yet hard-hitting heavy metal, and the world is about to take notice. Combining a variety of metallic influences ranging from modern metalcore and prog, thrash and more, The Wicked King: Part II acts as the second part of the band’s previous release, The Wicked King: Part I. Within the first month of its release, The Crown Remnant garnered over 10,000 streams of their first single cut from The Wicked King: Part I, entitled “Haunted“. The band plans to follow suit and beyond with The Wicked King: Part II.

The Wicked King: Part II is loosely based on thematic concepts of oppression and tyranny. Originally recorded as one long album, the band decided to split it into two releases – with The Wicked King: Part II acting as the “darker” side of the two. Part II addresses tales of betrayal, mortality, exploring the afterlife and more. Intertwined within these ideals are scattered lyrics pertaining to the character designed on the front cover of the album: The Wicked King. He remains an everlasting shadow of a forgotten king set on immortality, with his insatiable lust for never-ending life.

The Wicked King: Part II was recorded in multiple studios throughout Southern California, with the help of S&W Audio, and producer/engineer Tyler Ruehl (Noble, At The Skylines, Taipan, Lion I Am). After a rigorous tracking process, the songs were mixed by Robin Leijon (In Dying Arms, Atena, Eternal Void).

The Crown Remnant will hit this road this winter for select tour dates! See below for a list of all confirmed tour stops.

“… one of the most interesting bands to come around in a long, long time. They have Dead Kennedys’ outrageous sense of humor mixed with total irreverence and ornate style on top of a solid, engaging performance (even if the crowd is reluctant to respond). So while this whole thing was probably thought up after eating too many pot brownies, it is one of the most brilliant ideas in a long time.” – Troy Farah, Phoenix New Times

Mixing raucous comedy with borderline-horrific theatrics, the only thing more petrifying than impending health problems resulting from years of overeating is a Mac Sabbath show. Show attendees should be prepared to partake in the fun – Mac Sabbath puts on a theatrical, multimedia stage show – complete with a smoking grill, laser-eyed clowns, bouncing burgers and many more magical surprises… basically anything and everything an unwary show-goer could ever want in their wildest dreams. Named by Buzzfeed as one of the “13 Metal Bands You Didn’t Know How to React To” + Named as LA’s “Best Tribute Band” by LA Weekly.

“This is not a drill. Be it exchanging Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” for a “Pair-a-buns” or “Iron Man” for a “Frying Pan,” these food-focused musical dweebs are cooking up something hot ‘n’ ready just for you.” – Alicia Lutes, MTV.com

“Even if the songs are dripping with onions and extra cheese, Mac Sabbath put on one righteous stage show, complete with smoke machines, gritty power chords, and endless head-banging.” – Chris Coplan, ConsequenceofSound.net

Tech-Death Icons GOROD Reveal Epic, Cinematic Music Video for “Bekhten’s Curse”

Technical metal icons Gorod have released their brand new 10-track album, Aethra, today via Overpowered Records! The album can be ordered digitally via Amazon, iTunes and Google Play, and in several physical formats via Overpowered Records‘ merchandise site HERE.

In celebration of today’s release, Gorod have revealed an epic, cinematic music video for the track “Bekhten’s Curse”, produced by Disclosure Productions and available to view now via Revolver HERE.

Vocalist Julien Deyres tells Revolver: “Out of all of the songs on the album, these lyrics required the most research. I am not at all a specialist in Egyptian antiquity, but in doing my research on lunar deities I discovered this extraordinary story about a so-called miraculous healing of Ramesses II‘s sister-in-law. This legend is engraved on a stela that is currently in the Louvre Museum and is a proven historical fake. In this song, I am playing the role of a Bekhten’s city survivor, which was completely destroyed to restore a form of eventual reality… because way too often, popular legends such as this one were created to hide misdeeds by those who have the power and wish to be considered as heroes…”

Behind-the-scenes videos from Gorod:

Aethra

Produced and recorded by Gorod guitarist/mastermind Mathieu Pascal in his own Bud Studio, mixed at Dugout Studio by the outstanding Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Behemoth, Decapitated, In Flames) and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory at Obey Mastering (Decapitated, Nightrage), Aethra is a profound progression in terms of production, songwriting and arrangements.

With Aethra, Gorod transports the listener to a tragic and melancholic universe – a completely new level of darkness – while preserving what Gorod considers their tried and true core sound: incomparable groove, remarkable dexterity, and relentless technicality. But all the while, the band never sacrifices earworm hooks and unforgettable riffage.

Nearly 15 years into a career in which everything they’ve accomplished was earned and nothing was taken for granted, Incite bridges the gap between various metal sub-genres, but one thing is for certain – you will be banging your head in no time. This is a band who will open for Gorgoroth one night and Cancer Bats the next, converting true-believers out of everyone who crosses their path.

As renegade disciples of trailblazing metal architects like Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, and Machine Head, Incite raises the torch for trend-killing and hipster-smashing metal. Incite is as much a part of the fabric of the style championed by Lamb of God as the surge of newer bands like Power Trip. Incite perfected their signature brand of extreme sounds by playing shows with DevilDriver, Crowbar, Brujeria, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, and Six Feet Under.
