Torche Stream “Admission” Via Billboard; North American Tour Begins July 8

Miami, FL – Torche reveal a third track “Admission” (July 12, Relapse Records), debuting the album’s title track via Billboard HERE.

“This is a song where the music and the lyrics are a perfect match,” explains guitar player Jon Nunez in the accompanying article. “It’s as if they were meant to go together. What I was going through at the time really came through in the song, and the music I gave Steve definitely brought out some rather painful emotions for him [regarding] losing loved ones and the process you go through after. You could even hear a quiver in Steve’s voice, and it was like, ‘Wow, this is something we haven’t done before.’ Steve tends to be really secretive with his lyrics. He needed a little bit of a push, but I think deep down inside he wanted to get this off his chest.”

The band has given two previous previews of music from the 11-song album with streams of the songs “Slide” and “Times Missing”. The trio of tracks are available as instant downloads with digital pre-orders. Admission is available in various formats (CD/LP/CS/Digital) with several limited edition vinyl versions already sold out. More information can be found via Relapse’s webstore. Admission’s cover art was created by Richard Vergez, a Cuban-American visual artist, whose work has been shown at No Romance Galleries (TriBeCa), Urban Arts Society (Chicago) and Kids of Dada (London).

Torche released their fourth album, and Relapse Records’ debut, Restarter in 2015. The collection found the band on most year-end best of lists with Entertainment Weekly describing the album as “gloriously fuzzy, sludgy, hard-hitting” and calling the band members “four of loud rock’s most adroit genre-benders.” The Washington Post called Restarterotherworldly” and the Chicago Tribune saying “Torche’s music connects muscle, songcraft and drive in a way that few bands of recent vintage can match.

French Deathcore Heavyweights Betraying The Martyrs Return to North America for Summer Rapture Tour

French deathcore heavyweights Betraying The Martyrs will return to American shores this summer for their first-ever headline tour of North America. The “Summer Rapture Tour 2019,” also featuring support from Entheos, Within Destruction, Sentinels and Defying Decay, will kick off on June 28 in Stanhope, N.J.

A Preview of What’s to Come On the “Summer Rapture Tour

We are beyond excited to cover US soil on our first full US headlining tour,” says vocalist Aaron Matts. “To be able to play a full energetic set to an audience that has been with us since day one is an absolute honor for us! Along with a stacked line-up of sick bands, we’re all stoked to get on the road! Come to a show and lose yourselves with us all, see you all in the pit!”

The band recently also announced a new partnership with Chris Adler‘s management company, Kintsugi Management and is working on a new album. Betraying The Martyrs will play new songs from the upcoming album for the very first time on this tour.

Kintsugi is proud to be working with Betraying The Martyrs,” Adler says. “I’m honestly excited to be working with a group of friends with a united vision. Betraying The Martyrs is doing something very special. It’s labeled metalcore because it’s easy to put every band in a box, but in this case, that is a mistake. They have taken time to study and have salvaged and fine-tuned all that I love in metal music. It’s an exciting time for the band. We believe in the guys and there’s an incredible new album soon to drop. The band continues to grow a dedicated, international fan base via their hard work, vision and brutally contagious music. The new Betraying The Martyrs album is going to change the game. I’m sincerely thrilled to be involved with a group of people that focus and deliver.”

Matts adds, “We are beyond excited to announce our collaboration with the legendary Chris Adler and Kintsugi Management. To be on board the same ship as Chris and his incredible team has breathed new life into what we do. Their backing support goes beyond anything we have known previously. It’s truly an honor. With our next release in the barrel and ready to be fired into the world, we could not be any more prepared for the road ahead. We announce our signature to Kintsugi with great pride.”

The Paris-based band’s last album, The Resilient, was released via Sumerian Records in 2017 and showcased a unique songwriting dynamic unrivalled within their genre. Followed by worldwide touring in support of the record, Betraying The Martyrs cemented their position as the European Kings of 21st Century Metal.

Enter to win two tickets to any show on the tour, special merchandise packs, a visit with the band on their tour bus and a soundcheck experience with Betraying The Martyrs HERE.

Baroness Unveil Gold & Grey Via NPR

Baroness’ highly-anticipated album, Gold & Grey, is streaming now via NPR HERE.

Baroness Gold & Grey Album Cover

The 17-track release which arrives this Friday is described by NPR as “…Baroness has redigested every sound of the band’s career thus far and synthesized it into something greater. Gold & Grey is the sound of a band becoming a universe unto itself.” Mojo dubbed the album “an epic beast,” Stereogum referred to it as “anthemic” and MetalSucks said the collection “perfectly encapsulates how Baroness excel at reaching shining peaks and descending into gloomy valleys.” Baroness have recently been featured on the covers of Decibel Magazine, Kerrang! and Loud!, while Revolver will debut a series of collectible covers later this month.

“This is the most clear representation of the artistic vision I have for the band that we’ve ever done,” explains singer/guitar player John Baizley. “Where Purple was me lyrically trying to work out how to adjust to a new normal, I think Gold & Grey is a more grown-up and more subtle collection of words that reflect how I am trying to deal with the longer term effects of having experienced so many terrible things. I choose to use the band as a place where I can take all of this stress, pain, anxiety, all these realities, and make them something good.”

Baroness is in the midst of a tour of Northeastern U.S. independent record stores, performing acoustically this evening at Philadelphia’s Creep Records, with a full band performance slated for Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on release date. “For the old fans that bought this record twenty years ago, I hope they’re excited to hear the songs all played for the first time like this,” said singer/guitar player Lori S.. “By the same token, I hope that a lot of new fans who haven’t heard it live also have a special experience. We’re going out of our way to make it special for everyone. It’s what Acid King was always meant to be.”

Busse Woods, initially released via Frank Kozik’s Man’s Ruin label, still exudes the same sense of mysticism it did upon its 1999 debut. Lori and bandmates Joey Osbourne [drums] and Brian Hill [bass] entered a practice space to write the full-length follow-up to their debut Down with the Crown but behind the scenes, the band and its members were suffering through both professional and personal tumult. The chaotic backdrop led to limited promotion for Busse Woods with some of the songs never having been played live. Over the years, new generations of fans have discovered the album, earning it a reputation as a must-have for lovers of stoner and doom. Acid King returned in 2015 with Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, an album Stereogum placed in their Top 15 Metal Albums of the year, saying the collection is “a 53-minute celebration of a band at the height of its powers.”

Busse Woods is so potent that by the time you finish listening to opener ‘Electric Machine,’ your eyes are bloodshot.” – The Obelisk
