Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle) Makes Solo Debut at #Happens Las Vegas; “Poison Flowers” Single Arrives March 4

Los Angeles – Billy Howerdel, the critically-acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist behind A Perfect Circle, makes his highly-anticipated solo debut with a Feb. 23 performance at #Happens Las Vegas.

The outing gives fans their first taste of the Howerdel’s forthcoming, as-of-yet unannounced album, with the collection’s first single, “Poison Flowers” (pre-save here), slated for a March 4 release via Alchemy Recordings/BMG.

A teaser for “Poison Flowers” can be viewed above and here

This new album was birthed while on tour with A Perfect Circle. A weird blend of confidence, vulnerability and mortality urgently compelled me to write a letter of sorts in the form of an album,” explains Howerdel. Joining Howerdel for the live outing are Josh Freese (Just Google Him), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Kaela Sinclair (M83), and Kevin Maher (Fake Shark).

#Happens is an organically driven, rock and alternative new music experience that brings together artists, radio programmers, label executives, and streaming experts over a three day conference that encourages thought-provoking conversations and dynamic performances against the colorful backdrop of downtown Las Vegas. Howerdel’s performance is part of the opening night party, which is open to the public, with tickets available here.

Billy Howerdel has perhaps one of rock music’s most well-rounded and interesting resumes. Growing up in West Milford, New Jersey, he spent hours listening to WLIR emanating out of Long Island, New York. Lying in bed, he would scribble down playlists and then scout out the records he loved in stores, among them The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Dead Kennedys, and Elvis Costello. However, it was the experience of seeing Pink Floyd at Giants Stadium that triggered his lust for finding a way to work in the music industry.

Howerdel initially racked up experience in stage lighting, working for almost any band or theater production that would ask, while at the same time devoting the rest of his free time to practicing guitar. A few years of work led to a chance meeting with Fishbone, a move west and quickly becoming a sought-after road and studio tech, working with David Bowie, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, and oh yeah, being roommates with Tool’s Maynard James Keenan. It was that friendship that birthed the multi-platinum alternative rock supergroup, A Perfect Circle.

The expanse of his catalogue is impressive, to say the least, and what he doesn’t know, he can offer quite a decent Live Learn performance.

Li started performing by ear in high school after many years of studying and performing classical piano. While in the process of earning his math and music degrees in college, he was introduced to the world of Dueling Pianos that set him on a career path that led him to travel the world and play with hundreds of talented musicians. Puscifer Release “Bullet Train to Iowa” Video; Money $hot Livestream on April 17

Los Angeles Puscifer unveil the next chapter in the saga of desert dwelling scamp Billy D with the psychedelic, alien-infused mini film for “Bullet Train to Iowa“. Watch it here.

“The ‘Bullet Train to Iowa’ video is sort of a bridge between the Money $hot Live at the Mayan Theater performance (“Billy D and the Hall of Feathered Serpents”) and the Existential Reckoning Live at Arcosanti performance,” explains Maynard James Keenan. “Kind of like what ‘Rogue One’ is to the Star Wars films, but without the Storm Troopers and snarky robots.”

The clip was created by longtime Keenan collaborator, Meats Meier. Meats’ work with Puscifer spans the band’s history, from the band’s debut video, “Queen B”, which saw the introduction of the group’s de facto mascot of the same name, to the special-ops laced “Dozo” video, and most recently, the prescient “Apocalyptical” clip, which features the visual wizard surfing the pandemic-swept streets of Los Angeles. “Bullet Train to Iowa” also features a subtle nod to Money $hot, with the cowboys featured on the album’s cover, serving as bartenders in the newly released footage.

“Bullet Train to Iowa” comes from the band’s recently released album, Existential Reckoning (Alchemy Recordings/BMG). The 12-song collection, featuring artwork from Daniel Martin Diaz, has received widespread praise with Variety saying “…the airily hypnotic electronic rock…works…brilliantly,” Stereogum describing the music as “darkly playful,” and Revolver noting “you’re highly unlikely to find another album that explores the fear and loathing of our uncertain times in as chill a fashion as the latest from Maynard James Keenan’s art-rock outfit Puscifer.” Download and stream the album here.

Meats Meier-Created Video Follows BillyD’s Journey from Arcosanti to The Hall of Feathered Serpents

Puscifer Performs Money $hot in Its Entirely on Apr. 17

The band’s next visual offering arrives April 17, with the global streaming event, “Billy D and The Hall of Feathered Serpents featuring Money $hot by Puscifer”, a performance that sees Puscifer build upon their Luchador-infused performances surrounding the 2016 album, Money $hot (which will be played in its entirety). The production highlights Puscifer’s unique marriage of music-meets-theater, having seen the touring incarnation hailed as “extraordinary” (Kerrang!), “stunning” (Loudwire), and “a modern blend of ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’” (Relix).

Los Angeles’ historic Mayan Theater, a 1920s era revivalist theater featuring original artwork by Mexican painter and sculptor Francisco Cornejo, serves as the backdrop to the one-time outing. The elaborate cultural landmark, with its jaw-dropping Mayan calendar infused chandelier and a lobby dedicated to the bird-meets-reptilian deity Quetzalcoatl, gave birth to the performance’s title. “While looking both forward and backwards, we stumbled into The Hall of Feathered Serpents,” explains Mat Mitchell. “The perfect site to pay homage to the Money $hot album and tour.”

About Puscifer

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, Puscifer is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group’s catalog consists of three full-length studio albums—“V” is for Vagina [2007], Conditions of My Parole [2011], and Money Shot [2015]—in addition to a series of EPs and remixes.

Beyond the core trio of Maynard James Keenan [vocals], Mat Mitchell [guitar, production], and Carina Round [vocals, songwriting], the group’s ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses Greg Edwards (bass, guitar, keys), Gunnar Olsen (drums), as well as a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more.

Meanwhile, the moniker’s origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic Mr. Show where Keenan first utilized the name “Puscifer.” In addition to tallying tens of millions of streams and views, they’ve piqued the curiosity of press. Entertainment Weekly christened them, “Exceptionally groovy,” and Revolver fittingly described them as “indescribable.”

Renowned for an immersive live show, the group’s performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They’ve brought this to life everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their debut for Alchemy Recordings/BMG entitled Existential Reckoning, Puscifer track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.

LORE Releases the Deadly Sessions — Live Audio, Video Performance

In the darkest midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, LORE and her band recorded a locked-in LIVE audio & video performance.

These are the DEADLY SESSIONS

3 Live Recordings • 3 Live Videos

It all started with Stay-In-Fest 2020…

LIVE from Heretic Sound in Los Angeles, bandmates LORE, Chris Egert, and Vincent Cabagnot were captured performing and recording three songs. This was for Infest’s “Stay-In-Fest 2020” music festival — one of the electro/industrial and goth scene’s most revered UK festivals.

“Our band is proud of these performances because we look and sound just as we do in concert – LIVE, RAW & REAL!”

“It was an exciting offer and we had to make it happen! Plus, after months of lockdown, we needed some fun! I hired a notable music video director and we got it together fast!” said LORE.

“It was also a fun opportunity to premiere a new song,
“Until The Day I Die (Gothic Wedding Song) LIVE.”

LORE continued, “These are not the polished album versions. They are more guitar heavy with the electronic elements still prominent. When we realized how great they sounded, we decided to officially release them as a new product. Out of nowhere, a new release!”

Watch the Deadly Sessions (LIVE) Videos Here:

Flow (LIVE)

A dark electro fan favorite from LORE’s debut album, “My Soul Speaks,” cowritten by LORE and Mark Blasquez.

Until The Day I Die (Gothic Wedding Song) LIVE

A new dark synth-pop song; if you like retro Madonna and The Birthday Massacre, you are sure to like this song cowritten by LORE and Chris Egert.

The Wait (LIVE)

Previously released on the SAW IV soundtrack album/Trisol, this version features the same intensity of industrial trip hop with insanely powerful and emotional vocals. “The Wait” is a cowrite between LORE and Julian Beeston.

Listen to Deadly Sessions (LIVE) Here:

Recorded, Mixed & Mastered by Chris Egert at Heretic Sound

About LORE

Less Than Jake Unleashes 9th Studio Album Silver Linings

Seminal ska-punk luminaries Less Than Jake will be commemorating the release of their 9th studio album Silver Linings with their first-ever livestream performance this evening at 6pm EST from Gainesville, FL. Tickets are still available here.

Less than Jake Livestream

Their 9th studio album and first with new drummer Matt Yonker (Teen Idols, The Queers) is a dozen tracks of a rejuvenated and refreshed Less Than Jake. They picked up right where they left off and aren’t trying to fit in with any current trends because their ska-punk formula has stood the test of time and simply works. Vinyl, CD, and merchandise bundles are still available via Pure Noise Records webstore.

Less Than Jake silver Linings Album Art

Outburn Magazine proclaimed, “expert level ska punk.” The Punk Site asserted, “there is no filler, no throwaway tracks, just old-school ska punk done just as it oughta be.” KERRANG! chimed in, “a collection of typically upbeat ska-punk jams.” ReadJunk added, “a punkier version of LTJ.” Cryptic Rock declared, “Less Than Jake are only one of a handful of bands that can be considered the best of the best.”

To celebrate the album release, the band revealed their 8 bit style new music video, “Keep On Chasing“, today. Watch it here:

Continuing to play over 150 dates a year while also writing and recording new material has kept the band fresh in a time when “ska” has become something of a four-letter word. The list of acts they have supported is staggering (Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg) while the list of bands that have supported them makes even the most hardened music industry veteran do a double take (Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Yellowcard). All the while the band has held firm to its punk rock roots and have managed to live through many musical trends simply by just being Less Than Jake.

With well over 300 releases on various labels under their belt, most would think their legacy is already intact, but the status quo has never interested Less Than Jake. They continue to write and perform new material and have no thoughts of letting up. With the energy and exuberance of a band half its age and the determination of savvy veterans, there is seemingly no end point to this enduring and entertaining band.

Less Than Jake Is:

  • Chris DeMakes (vocals, guitar)
  • Roger Lima (vocals, bass)
  • Buddy Shaub (trombone)
  • Peter “JR” Wasilewski (saxophone)
  • Matt Yonker (drums)

We haven’t played together in a year,” explains The Starting Line lead vocalist and bassist Kenny Vasoli. “The only logical thing to do is perform over three dozen songs, whilst being meticulously filmed and recorded. I’ve been starved of playing live music with my friends all year… I’m eager and grateful to end that streak.”

All-Star Quintet IMONOLITH Announces Weekly Quarantine Sessions with Tracks Off New Album

All-star modern metal band IMONOLITH released their highly anticipated debut album, State of Being, this past March. Like many bands in the music industry, they have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and were forced to cancel their European tour dates in March and April.

(Burning Hot Events earns from qualifying purchases.)

While the guys have isolated themselves at home, they’re still in daily contact with each other, keeping their creative juices flowing. Even though they are separated across the globe from each other, the members of IMONOLITH have been able to put together something special for fans entitled “The Quarantine Sessions.”

Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen explains in further detail: “It’s tough times for everyone world-wide with COVID-19. The music industry and bands world-wide have literally been shut down from touring, from doing press tours and anything to do with public appearances. The one thing COVID-19 has not disrupted is the Internet and Social Media. Many bands are getting creative and doing live stream concerts and more…

IMONOLITH has come up with the ‘Quarantine Sessions’ for our supporters in correlation with our debut album release ‘State of Being,’ which came out on March 27th, 2020. What are the ‘Quarantine Sessions?’ They are videos released on our YouTube page, each Monday at 8 a.m. PST, of the full band playing through a song on our debut album. We will be releasing a new song every Monday until we have finished all 10 songs on our album. Then on every Tuesday, at 9 a.m. PST we will be doing a ‘Quarantine Session Live Feed’ on our Instagram page to talk about the song we released on Monday. We’ll go into many behind-the-scenes specifics about each song we release and do a live Q&A with you all. Let’s hang, have some fun and catch up, while self-isolating at home during these challenging times!

This is our Quarantine offering to our loyal and new supporters to show how we play our material and to be able to chat with you all, albeit in Quarantine from our homes. This is Self Isolation at it’s finest while helping flatten the curve of COVID-19. Finding the positive in the negative 😉

Tune in on Mondays for our new video and see you on Tuesdays for our live feed discussion. Be safe out there!”
