The Faim Premiere Official Video For “A Million Stars” With Ones To Watch

Los Angeles, CA – Today, The Faim have teamed up with Ones To Watch to premiere the official video for their latest single, “A Million Stars.” Watch it exclusively HERE. The video was filmed in Berlin, Germany and follows frontman Josh Raven as he reminisces over a past love interest. “A Million Stars” also appears on the band’s debut EP, Summer Is a Curse, which serves as a prelude to their hotly-anticipated first full-length album, slated for release in 2019.

“ ‘A Million Stars’ isn’t only about appreciating the person you’re with or the location you’re in, it’s about being free of the world’s distractions and valuing the little details that make a memory unique. I believe we’re defined by our reactions to these moments,” says Josh. “This video represents the double-edged sword of sharing perfect memories, but being thrust into a situation where cherishing them might not ever be possible. It’s a reality anyone faces when you’re away from loved ones, friends or even a familiar place.”

REVIEW: OTEP Brings the Kult 45 Resistance to Mesa 8-6-18

Mesa, AZ Award-winning performer, artist, and activist Otep Shamaya rallied fans at Club Red Tuesday night in an impassioned, politically-charged performance. Heavy metal veterans OTEP (the band) [an anagrammatic name derivative of the word “poet”] recently dropped their eighth full-length album entitled Kult 45 via Napalm Records. According to an exclusive interview with Blabbermouth.net, “This is OTEP like you’ve never heard them before.

Along with Kult 45’s highly anticipated release, OTEP announced a headline tour, to tease their newest work of art; beginning at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 5th, and ending in Ventura, California on August, 18th 2018. Tour-mates include Dropout Kings, an AZ-based nu-metal band on the rise (who just released a burning hot new album called “AudioDope” this past Friday), and European progressive rock band Ragdoll Sunday. First to take the stage was anime-themed punk rock band Usagi (formerly Unagi Usagi), followed by progressive metal group CharonIncentive a band heavily influenced by iconic black and death metal styles, and groove metal band Fatal Malady, whose skull-faced aesthetic captivated the now overflowing trickle of bodies entering through the back of the venue.

Following a supercharged performance by Dropout Kings, audience members began to chant in unison, “OTEP! OTEP! OTEP!” Drummer Justin Kier could be seen jetting on and off the stage, while crew members worked diligently to set the scene. Illuminated only by sporadic flares of light, Kier stepped forward to address the crowd, breaking the ice with a little marijuana-related humor before being joined by bandmates Ari “The Spartan” Mihalopoulos on guitar, and bassist Andrew Barnes. With time to spare, Kier went on to talk about a new, lesser known project in collaboration with Phoenix’s own hard rock female-fronted foursome Doll Skin, which they’ve aptly named “PETO”, once again utilizing OTEP’s iconic anagram, only this time – backwards. The trio commenced with an ear-splitting rendition of Slayer’s “Raining Blood”, immediately provoking a mosh pit nearly the size of the entire room.

After the music faded and fans had settled into standing-room-only once again, Shamaya exploded onto the platform between two vertically-balanced rifles, adorned with severed baby heads, faux weapons, LGBT symbolism, the U.S. flag, and a variety of other props yet to be revealed. Hanging delicately beneath the deceased infant’s haunting yellow eyes was a crooked sign that read, “Where are the children?” It’s no coincidence Shamaya’s performances have been dubbed “a two-decade invasion of the senses” and it’s clear she has no intention of dulling that edge now.

“We want to empower people,” Shamaya says of Kult 45. “This album wasn’t written to only wake people up, it’s meant to carbonate people with the hope and confidence that they can make a difference.”

Are you ready to riot?!”, Shamaya asked the crowd, growling into the mic with intensity while being met with a reverberating wave of hoots, screams, and howls.

Beneath a beer-soaked haze of golden strobe lights, attendees raged along to political anthems “To The Gallows” (during which Shamaya fiercely spun a hangman’s noose from the end of her mic), “Battle Ready”, and “Lords of War”, succeeded by what is arguably one of OTEP’s most iconic tracks to date, “Crooked Spoons”. Shamaya playfully pulled from her rifling of props for each new track, punching her fist in the air as a bloody, severed pig head was tossed out from behind the stage.

Fans roared along to every word of “Blood Pigs” and “Apex Predator”, off OTEP’s earlier albums Sevas Tra (2012) and Hydra (2013), erupting with raw emotion and appreciation for the purpose embedded in each verse. OTEP is a band that’s known for it’s ultra-loyal fanbase, but the reasoning behind that is something so much deeper than fame or catchy music. Shamaya’s ability to continually utilize OTEP’s music as a vessel for societal change through a variety of synchronized creative mediums is seriously impactful and evidently similar to that of legendary musical influencers like Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan or Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine.

OTEP went on to make their stance on mass shootings known with newly released track “Shelter In Place”, during which Shamaya aimed a presumably plastic, silver pistol at one of the severed doll heads while chanting with the room, “enough is enough!” Shamaya did go on to clarify her stance however, noting that “guns don’t kill people; people kill people,” before moving into “Zero” off the group’s 2016 album Generation Doom, which was followed-up by a couple of surprise tracks from the group’s self-titled poetry EP Wurd Becomes Flesh  originally released in 2005, one year prior to OTEP’s infamous addition to Ozzfest (2004).

The audience rippled with excitement as Shamaya waved her rainbow flag high. OTEP moved to close the night with staple track “Equal Rights, Equal Lefts”, prior to transitioning into an anger-charged protest, which peaked to the opening notes of “Wake Up” by Rage Against The Machine; a cover included as the second-to-last track on Kult 45.

In one final call to action, OTEP ignited fans with an ear-splitting performance “Confrontation” from The Ascension (2007). The props did not end there though; Shamaya had one final trick up her sleeve – a fake severed Trump head. Almost in a single motion, Shamaya plunged the barrel of one of the rifles into the base of Trump’s rubbery neck, twirling him around until the two were facing eye-to-eye, spitting in the mock President’s face before a final punch which sent Trump’s spitclad face soaring out of view.

It was a night of disruption, a night of rage, empowerment, catharsis, emotion and unity. It’s obvious that Kult 45 was intended as more of a social catalyst – a statement piece that simultaneously disrupts and unifies. This is an album that gets people to look; each track furiously spotlights a variety of recurring social issues in the forefront of the United States’ current political landscape. Regardless of whether or not you agree with their stance, OTEP is making one thing exceptionally clear: “Art is resistance. Art aloows us to fight back without violence.”

“This is why we rally, this is why we march, and this is why I write. Because when I look back someday I want to know that I did everything in my power as an artist, activist and citizen.”Otep Shamaya

Industrial-Electronic Icons ORGY Welcome Two New Members + U.S. Tour Kicks Off August 17

Electronic rock icons ORGY recently announced their upcoming “Bring Your Army” tour featuring support from MotograterBrand of Julez and the Crowned, kicking off on August 17 in Salt Lake City, UT. Joining the band on this tour will be their two new members – multi-talented guitarist, singer and producer Ilia Yordanov, and drummer, electronic music producer and DJ Ryan Browne.

New ORGY guitarist Ilia Yordanov (pronounced ileeah) was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and grew up in San Diego, CA and Seattle, WA. Ilia began playing shows at age 13 with numerous bands until assembling his own band, Red Museum, in 2006. The band went on to release four EPs. Ilia moved to Los Angeles in 2008 and has been living and performing there for the past 10 years so he could focus on his acting career, and has predominantly remained a solo artist, producing and engineering his own musical work. Additionally, Ilia directed the video for his single, “Fire in the Middle”, released in 2016. Ilia has also supervised and composed music for film. In addition to music, Ilia regularly performs stand-up at The Comedy Store, and has self-published a book titled, Dirty Mirror Talk.

LA native Ryan Browne grew up playing drums in bands and took his playing to the professional level at 15 by playing for Jive records’ pop duo, Axiz. Ryan attended Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) and studied drum set, Afro Caribbean hand percussion, music production, engineering and music business. Upon his early graduation, he accepted an instructor’s position at the prestigious Icon Collective music production school back in Los Angeles. Since diving into electronic music production, Ryan has released through Geffen Records, Borgore’s imprint, Buygore Records, Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire, Pantheon, and more. He has worked alongside artists such as 2018 Grammy Award Winner Latroit, Sullivan King, Whyel, Warden, and Trentino, amongst others. He has also mixed/mastered music for 2ToneDisco, works closely with Dennis White at White House Music doing sound design and writing for sync libraries, and plays drums for genre-bending hybrid Monstercat/Mau5trap artist Grabbitz. Ryan’s diverse musical palette has earned him consistent support from major electronic publications like NestHQ, Dancing Astronaut, and Your EDM, which puts him in a unique and influential position, ready for an explosive and exciting future.

ORGY frontman Jay Gordon says, “It’s always tough when bands go through lineup changes. When it comes to the fans, sometimes it’s just gotta be done… I needed to upgrade and I knew Ilia would be the way to go for guitar – I had asked him a while back and was waiting on a call back. We’ve worked together in the past and I’m a fan, so I’m glad we waited for him. He is a sick guitar player and can totally sing, as well. He is also an actor… his superior talents will not disappoint.

“Our former drummer Bobby recently opened a music school in Orange County and we are excited for him. With the drumming position open, we quickly found Ryan Browne, a Berklee College of Music graduate and instructor at Icon Collective who specializes in colliding metal with electronic bass music and makes drum videos for his own original songs and remixes. I saw one of his videos and knew instantly that he was the guy we had been looking for. We’re only a week into rehearsals so far and both Ilia and Ryan have greatly exceeded my expectations. This is going to be an epic tour, to say the least.”

ORGY emerged in the Goth music scene in 1998 with their incredible remake of ‘Blue Monday’. The track sold over one million copies and is still selling 20 years later. In late 2005, after the release of Punk Statik Paranoia via D1 Music and Associates, their independent DVD TRANS GLOBAL SPECTACLE via D1 Music /DLC Records, and a promotional tour, the band went on a hiatus to work on their side projects. In 2011, after seven years of demand from fans for new music and a tour, founding member Jay Gordon (vocals) decided it was time to kick things back up and begin recording and touring again in support of ORGY‘s fans.

After several years of releasing earworm singles to the masses, ORGY has proven their long-lasting potency with a refreshed line-up and sound. The modern incarnation of ORGY has been transformed and sees the band poised to re-establish themselves in the EDM, industrial and hard rock scenes. Make no mistake about it, the ORGY brand is not going away anytime soon. As long as the fans demand new music and tours, the band is ready, willing and able to fill their request.

Hollywood Undead Release New Version of “Whatever It Takes” & Are Touring North America

Hollywood Undead - Whatever It Takes (Mixtape)

Los Angeles, CA – Today, Hollywood Undead unveiled a new version of their hit single, “Whatever It Takes,” featuring notable recording artists Prodigal Sunn, Demrick, and Fudd Rukus. The mixtape edition of the song is available to stream and purchase on digital retailers, and fans can grab a listen and watch the music video HERE.

The video was once again directed by Brian Cox, who has been at the helm for other signature Hollywood Undead videos including “California Dreaming” and “Black Cadillac.” The original track appears on the band’s fifth studio album, FIVE, released October 27th, 2017 via Dove & Grenade Media/BMG

“It’s such an honor for us as a band to share this song with some extremely talented artists and friends,” says Johnny 3 Tears, Hollywood Undead’s vocalist and bass guitarist. “The song is about doing whatever we have to in order to overcome any circumstance, which is something everyone goes through in life. It’s amazing to hear new stories on the same song. What’s your story?”

Currently On North American Tour – Confirmed to Play Las Rageous, Welcome to Rockville, & Fort Rock Festivals

After completing a substantial run of European dates earlier this year, Hollywood Undead is currently back on the road for a tour across North America. Tonight, the band will co-headline The Complex in Salt Lake City with In This Moment, followed by a run of headline shows and festival performances at Las Rageous, Welcome to Rockville, Fort Rock, Corona Hell & Heaven, Impact Music, and Heavy Montréal. After selling out venues in London, Munich, Budapest, Prague, and more, it’s needless to say that the quintet’s atomic live performances are in high demand. To see it for yourself, check out the official live video of “Renegade” from the band’s headline performance at Moscow’s Adrenaline Stadium.

A full list of tour dates is included below, and all tickets can be purchased HERE.

FIVE debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top Albums Chart and has accumulated over 35 million streams, led by standout tracks “California Dreaming,”“Whatever It Takes” and “Bad Moon.” The record threads together a collage of metallic instrumentation, street corner poetry, and industrial haze, and Hollywood Undead’s “penchant for experimentation, as well as a flair for pop craftsmanship, is what sets [the band] apart from some of their contemporaries” (AllMusic).

Listen to FIVE HERE, and stay tuned for more new music from Hollywood Undead.
