Tool Releases First Album in 13 Years, Fear Inoculum; Announces North American Tour

The news arrives as the band announces a six-week North American tour, launching the trek on Oct. 13 at the Aftershock Festival. Tickets are on-sale Sept. 6 at 10 am local time, with a limited number of tickets will be available to Tool Army members on Sept. 4. Fear Inoculum’s release caps off over a decade of speculation and anticipation, with confirmation of the release arriving in May as the band flashed “August 30” from the stage as they performed two new songs: “Descending” and “Invincible.”

As August arrived, Tool released their back catalog via digital service providers, seeing Opiate, Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days rack up in excess of 20 million streams in the subsequent 48 hours and occupy the top five spots on iTunes’ Top 10 Album Charts. 23 years after its initial release, Ænima re-entered Billboard’s Top 200, arriving at #10, with Lateralus (#16), 10,000 Days (#18) and Undertow (#19) landing in the Top 20. Tool’s debut release, 1992’s Opiate EP, made its Billboard chart premiere, arrived at #59. The band also broke records that week: taking four of the top five spots on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart (the first act to achieve that feat upon digital release) and claiming 15 (of 25) spots on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart.

The title track arrived as details surrounding the collection surfaced, including a limited-edition CD version of Fear Inoculum. The collectible offering, which was conceived by and directed by Adam Jones, features a 4” HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, charging cable, 2 watt speaker, a 36-page booklet and a digital download card. The Faim Share “Humans” Music Video

Los Angeles, CA – In anticipation of their long-awaited debut album, State of Mind, The Faim have unveiled the official music video for lead single, “Humans,” today. The cinematic offering dives into the world of science fiction while also highlighting a visually stunning band performance. The video follows the four-piece as they’re taken captive by a government organization and subjected to tests to determine if they are human or android. To escape, they’ll need the help of someone who’s more than human…watch all the action unfold HERE.

“Creating the music video for our latest single, ‘Humans,’ was our favorite shoot to date,” says Stephen Beerkens (bass/keys). “We worked with an amazing team in Los Angeles, who helped capture the entire video in just one day. The concept represents us searching for both our differences and the things we have in common, which also encapsulates the essence of the song: what it means to be human,” he explains.

Following the release of last year’s debut EP, Summer Is a Curse, The Faim wasted no time creating music for their first full-length effort, State of Mind, due on September 13 via BMG. The album includes eight brand new tracks in addition to previously-released singles, “Summer Is a Curse” and “Amelie.” If you were able to catch The Faim on tour in the U.S. earlier this year, you may have also heard them play “Beautiful Drama” and “Infamous,” two additional fan favorites on the record. The Faim will be returning to the U.S. this fall for a massive co-headline tour with fellow Aussie group, Stand Atlantic. Mike Patton and French Composer Jean-Claude Vannier Share The Track “Browning”

Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mondo Cane) and renowned French composer Jean-Claude Vannier, share the final glimpse into their new album by way of the album track “Browning” ahead of the release of Corpse Flower (Ipecac Recordings, Sept 13). Listen to “Browning” HERE.

A variety of musicians, both in Los Angeles and Paris, took part in the recording of Corpse Flower with the Los Angeles team including Smokey Hormel (Beck, Johnny Cash), Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Air, Nine Inch Nails) and James Gadson (Beck, Jamie Lidell). The Parisian players are Denys Lable, Bernard Paganotti (Magma), Daniel Ciampolini, Didier Malherbe, Léonard Le Cloarec and the Bécon Palace String Ensemble. The lyrics for “Ballad C.3.3.” are drawn from Oscar Wilde’s “The Ballad of Reading Gaol” poem, which was initially published using the name C.3.3.

Corpse Flower is available now for pre-orders HERE, including special embossed versions featuring Kenro Izu’s stunning cover photo. The album will be available on 180gram colored vinyl, a CD digipak and digitally.

Mike Patton’s resume is virtually limitless, having kicked off his musical career as a teenager in the band Mr. Bungle, joining Faith No More in 1989 and going on to create a smorgasbord of bands and solo releases including Fantômas, Tomahawk, Mondo Cane, Dead Cross, Lovage and Peeping Tom. Jean-Claude Vannier, born in Paris during World War II, The Guardian dubbed him “the sound sculptor in Serge Gainsbourg’s shadow,” referencing his extensive work with the French musician including Histoire de Melody Nelson. His career has spanned nine solo records, countless contributions to film and TV scores, and his influence has been cited by numerous musicians including Beck, Pulse, Portishead, Massive Attack, Air and Tricky.

Monolord Release “The Last Leaf” Video via COS

Gothenburg, Sweden – Monolord, who recently announced their anticipated Relapse Records’ debut, No Comfort (Sept. 20, Relapse Records), share a second track from the forthcoming album, debuting the video for “The Last Leaf” via Consequence of Sound’s Heavy Consequence HERE.

“We’re thrilled to work with the brilliantly talented Björn Rallare on this video,” said the band, collectively. “He’s aced the difficult challenge of capturing the post-apocalyptic and apathetic atmosphere of the song. Hope you like it as much as we do.”

Monolord previously shared the nine-and-a-half-minute song “The Bastard Son,” which was met with widespread praise. CHEVELLE Announces Intimate Headline Dates and Festival Appearances

On the heels of the current massive amphitheater tour with Breaking Benjamin, multi-platinum alternative rock band CHEVELLE has announced two intimate headline shows and two festival appearances on the West Coast this fall.

CHEVELLE will perform at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on October 13, followed by headline shows at the Riverside Auditorium in Riverside, CA, and San Diego’s House of Blues on October 15 and 16. Aeges will support CHEVELLE on both headline dates. The trio will then head to the Las Rageous Festival in Las Vegas on October 19.

Tickets will be available Friday, August 23, 2019 @ 10:00 AM Local Time.

Since the release of their full-length debut Point #1 in 1999, CHEVELLE have stood at the forefront of hard rock, consistently evolving and progressing while delivering a series of ubiquitous and inescapable anthems. 2002’s breakout Wonder What’s Next would go platinum, yielding smashes such as “The Red” and “Send the Pain Below,“ while its follow-up This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In reached gold status. Tilian (Pearson) Shares New Electro-Pop Single, “Half”

Los Angeles, CA — Dance Gavin Dance frontman, Tilian (Pearson), has unveiled his new single, “Half,” today. The new offering is an emotive electro-pop track, laced with soothing beats and catchy rhythms.

“I started building a studio and I wanted to put some beauty in the empty space. Matt Malpass (FEVER 333, Issues, Andy Black) came over and we made a batch of songs. ‘Half’ was my favorite. Fortunately, Rise Records was down with putting it out right away. I’m looking forward to building up an album’s worth of work over the coming months,” says Tilian.

Amanda Palmer Shares New Video for “Drowning in the Sound”

Amanda Palmer has shared the official music video for “Drowning In The Sound,” which is lifted from her recently released album There Will Be No Intermission, her first solo record in seven years. The track addresses everything from climate change and the #MeToo movement to fake news, the internet and the American government; a reflection on the turbulent times we’re currently living through.

Directed, produced and edited by Michael Pope, the video stars choreographer Coco Karol who called it “a wish fulfilled to get to continue to make art and do motherhood,” as it gave her an opportunity to continue dancing while seven months pregnant. The symbol of Karol’s pregnant body and the urgency of the video tie to the wider themes of Palmer’s new album There Will Be No Intermission.

On the video’s release, Palmer says, “The overwhelming news about climate change, the politics of a woke and devastated internet, the isolation that everybody is feeling right now… how do you make a music video about that? Michael Pope and I have been co-creating video treatments for over fifteen years together, ever since we first sat down to write the treatment for “Girl Anachronism” for The Dresden Dolls, we’ve always bitten off more than we could chew, and this video was no exception. The set of the video itself was a healing space: all of these performers and crew gathered together to try to pull off something sort of impossible on a shoe-string budget. Coco, our choreographer and my new-found friend, was seven months pregnant when we shot the footage, and the whole cast and crew almost revolved around that baby inside her. She and I both experienced painful miscarriages a few years ago, and we took turns carrying each other through the dark. This project was a sort of a healing ritual for us both; and the whole crew and cast wanted this video to feel like the crossroads between brutal hopelessness and passionate hope, which is what everybody seems to be feeling nowadays.”

World Tour Continues This Fall – Tickets on Sale

Following the release of There Will Be No Intermission, Amanda Palmer is currently embarking on her hugely anticipated world tour. The fourteen date UK run kicks off this October, which includes four dates across Ireland and concludes with three nights at London’s Union Chapel this December. The show itself features Palmer on solo piano and ukulele, with no band accompaniment; a night of graphic, honest, and funny storytelling and songs that Palmer claims is her “most human and vulnerable stage-show to date.” See below for a full list of dates. While the themes may be dark, the album’s overall sonic and lyrical mood is one of triumphs in the face of life’s most ineffably shitty circumstances. Recorded over a single month in Los Angeles by John Congleton (who previously engineered and produced 2012’s acclaimed Theatre Is Evil), There Will Be No Intermission was entirely crowd-funded, this time by over 15,000 patrons using Palmer’s community hub on Patreon. There Will Be No Intermission is now available in stores and on all DSPs.

“The last seven years have been a relentless parade of grief, joy, birth and death, and all of it has galvanized me to the core: as a writer, as a woman, as an artistic servant,” says Palmer. “I also had no idea that my 15,000 patrons – who held my hand through this entire process – would have the profound effect on my songwriting that they did. Everything feels inseparable now: my crowdfunding through Patreon, the birth of our son, the election of Trump, two abortions, the Kavanuagh hearing, the death of my best friend, being in Ireland for the repeal, the miscarriage I had on Christmas day. I sat in a theater in London and watched Hannah Gadsby decimate the blurred lines between entertainment and naked truth, I saw the brave women of #MeToo standing up against their rapists, and I saw Nick Cave in concert and on record working through his grief using art as a necessary and generous tourniquet that others could re-use. They all reminded me to try harder and harder still to tell the real, unadorned truth. I’ve seen how infectious the darkest truths are, when spoken without shame, and I felt like taking any other path would have been a cop-out.”

Tool Stream Fear Inoculum Title Track; Pre-orders Available

Los Angeles — Fear Inoculum, the fifth studio album from Tool, arrives on Aug. 30 via RCA Records. Stream the album’s title track HERE.

Continuing their affinity for pushing the boundaries of physical packaging, the GRAMMY Award® winning outfit has created a deluxe, limited-edition CD version of Fear Inoculum. The collectible offering, which was conceived by and directed by Adam Jones, features a 4” HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, charging cable, 2 watt speaker, a 36-page booklet and a digital download card. The 85-minute collection was produced by Tool, with Joe Barresi engineering and mixing the release. Barresi also worked with the band on 10,000 Days.

The song stream and pre-order news arrives as the Los Angeles band recently made several of their previous releases, Opiate, Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days, available for the first time on digital service providers. The releases racked up over 20 million streams in the first 48 hours of release, as well as quickly claiming five spots on iTunes’ Top 10 Albums chart.

Tool formed in 1990, releasing four multi-platinum studio albums: Undertow (1993), Ænima (1996), Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006); two EPs: 72826 (1991) and Opiate (1992) and the limited-edition boxset Salival (2000). The band has won three GRAMMY Awards®: Best Metal Performance (1998, “Ænima”), Best Metal Performance (2002, “Schism”) and Best Recording Package (2007, 10,000 Days).
