Failure Release Depeche Mode Cover “Enjoy The Silence”

LOS ANGELES – Failure have released a newly recorded cover of the Depeche Mode classic, “Enjoy The Silence”. Listen here:

“We originally recorded a cover of ‘Enjoy The Silence’ for the 1998 Depeche Mode tribute, For The Masses,” says Ken Andrews. “That album has all but disappeared, no longer in print and not available via streaming platforms but we as a band are proud of our take on that song and had wanted to re-record it for some time. With the blessing of both Martin Gore and Depeche Mode, we re-addressed our version and came up with this new version for 2020.”

The digital single arrives at a time when Failure had been slated to perform a series of live residencies in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City. Those dates have since been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The band is taking pre-orders here for FAILURE 1992-1996, a four-piece vinyl box set featuring the three ‘90s-era albums. With the original masters finally being unearthed, Comfort, Magnified, and Fantastic Planet have been meticulously restored, remixed, and remastered by Ken Andrews to a new level of sonic fidelity that eclipses all previous iterations of the band’s early work.

“Almost everything people have heard from these albums has been sourced from 16bit digital files made in the ‘90s, which was state of the art at the time,” explains Andrews. “But when we found out we were getting our hands on the original analog master tapes, and with all the confusion and lack of quality control on several of the previous iterations, we set out to create the definitive versions of Comfort, Magnified and Fantastic Planet. Everything has been sourced directly from first generation multitrack and stereo master tapes. This is us finally getting to present our early work the way we’ve always wanted to.”

In addition to all the originally released songs from the three albums, the band has discovered several unreleased songs which have also been restored and will be included in the box set.

“These new versions have all the magic from the originals, but now, instead of looking through a hazy pane of glass, the window has been completely opened and you can hear all the elements in their full glory,” explains drummer Kellii Scott.

“Listening to the b-sides and outtakes from that first year of being a band takes me right back to playing the tiny stage at Jabberjaw in Los Angeles,” adds bassist/guitarist Greg Edwards. “It’s always surprising to me how much of the expansiveness and atmosphere of the later records exist in embryonic form on those earliest stripped-down recordings.”

“Stuck On You” was recently remastered both visually and sonically,
and can be viewed here:

KID DAD New Single “LIMBO” Out Now

“Limbo” Cover Art

KID DAD’s new track “Limbo” is a song that deals with feeling unsafe, hassled, or even abused. As vocalist and guitarist Marius Vieth says, it’s about being “caught between uncertainty and fear, searching for something real to hold on to, in search of hope.”

The band has chosen to convey this in a music video that tells the story of a child trying to escape domestic violence. Part of what initiated this concept was the fact that, due to Covid-19 and the regulations put in place to battle the pandemic, there has been a surge in cases of domestic violence worldwide. Being trapped at home, a place that should be a haven of safety, can turn into a living hell for far too many people with the detection rate for young victims being shockingly low.

Band Announces ‘SAFE In A Box’ Campaign to Raise Awareness Around Child Abuse / Domestic Violence

Says the band: “We address feelings of isolation and entrapment on our debut album ‘In A Box’ and feel obliged to call attention to this situation. We want to raise awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence cases worldwide and encourage people to donate to SOS-Kinderdorf & NSPCC in order to support the work they are doing in preventing such violence and supporting victims.”

Kid Dad has set up a website with information, donation links and merch items with 100% of the proceeds to be donated, here: www.kid-dad.com/safeinabox.

"After a lot of research and brainstorming on how we can actually help, we decided to produce some small merch articles of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to SOS Kinderdörfer and NSPCC. In addition to this we will pay 100% of the producing and shipping costs so every single cent you pay will find its way to the organizations.

We know we can’t change the world with this, but even if a single child will be helped, then this whole campaign will be worth it!If you have the means we deeply encourage you to make a donation directly to the organizations:

SOS Kinderdorf
NSPCC

Help us to make a change here: www.kid-dad.com/shop. Please notice that all the donation items are marked with a little house! Thank you so much, Marius, Max, Michael & Joshua

Official Music Video for Viral K-pop Smash “Lucky Cat” Released by DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ

An official video for “Lucky Cat,” viral K-pop smash DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ, is available today.

Watch the Video Now Here:

Official Lyric Video | Official Audio Stream | Spotify

Lucky Cat” is the first single from DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ’s upcoming debut album, aptly titled Escape From NYC. The song literally came to him complete in a dream three years ago. In the dream, it went massively viral, had its own dance, and came at a time of real human need – which is right now.

DRMAGDN says, “The whole process was surreal. I have never been given an entire song complete in a dream with melody, lyrics and even a dance that went viral around the world before. I met K-pop singer Josephine Cho at another session I was producing. When she started singing, I was shocked cause it was literally the voice from my dream. I had another deja vu flashback to the second half of my dream when the worldwide shutdown happened because the song came at a time of massive human need. So, I bumped my song ‘RIOT!’ to be released on June 5 and fast tracked ‘Lucky Cat’ for a May release. The song is currently almost to the one million total view/play mark across all socials and streaming services since being released a month ago. I am excited to finally drop the fun viral music video.”

The song is a catchy female K-Pop EDM hit available in five Asian languages and English. It features Korean pop singer Josephine Cho and was mastered by Huntley Miller (Grammy for Zedd’s “Clarity” Record and Lizzo) with mix consulting by Johnny Nice (Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Evanescence). Additional keyboards by Plastic Cannon/Alan Markley (Maggie Rogers and Ramin Karmiloo) and lead “meow” vocals by Sophia Angelica (singer/songwriter/activist). All other production, songwriting, keys, programming, drums and mixing by DRMAGDN Cyborg Drummer/DJ aka Charlie Zeleny.

Lucky Cat” has total combined views/plays of 835,000+ in just a month since the release. It is considered a Big Trend on TikTok with 635,000+ views, plus has garnered 55,000+ views on YouTube, 21,000+ Spotify plays, 12,500+ Spotify monthly listeners, 121,000+ SoundCloud plays and 5,000+ “Likes”/shares across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The song has been placed on 30+ Spotify playlists and is now on major label Sony Music’s FILTR Emerging Electronic playlist.

DRMAGDN gave $100 to charity on the day of the release to start things off ($50 to Mount Sinai’s Coronavirus Fund and $50 to friend Chris Rybin’s Kidney Transplant Fund). He also donated $3,500+ worth of medical supplies he found in storage to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York. View his Instagram post about it here:

Hey guys, I’m staying safe & healthy and I hope you’re all too. I’m going to try to do something a bit different here during the shutdown, so please check this out. We all need a break from the massive negativity we are facing right now, so let’s see if we can spread some positivity & hope that actually helps as many people as possible worldwide. The amazing Korean singer Josephine Cho & I just released a catchy viral tune called Lucky Cat that has a fun charity dance for everyone to do. It’s the 1st single off my debut DRMAGDN record aptly titled Escape From NYC. The song is in English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese Mandarin, Tagalog & Thai. Links are in my Bio. I personally donated $100 to charity right now. $50 went to Sophia Angelica’s brother Chris Rybin’s kidney transplant fund. The second $50 went to Mount Sinai for the COVID-19 pandemic. Plus I donated over $3,000+ of medical supplies I found in storage including masks to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens NYC. Here’s how to do it (all links are in my bio): 1. Listen to Lucky Cat on Spotify or YouTube 2. Watch the Dance Vid 3. Use Audio on IG or TikTok 4. Film yourself doing the dance with cat ears or just do something silly 5. Post it & tag @DRMAGDN #DRMAGDN #LuckyCat #LuckyCatChallenge #DanceChallenge 6. Pick your favorite charity & donate $1 (if you can) 7. Challenge 5 other people to do the Lucky Cat Challenge by copying this text and sharing this post: You’ve been challenged by Lucky Cat! Do the dance on a vid and/or give $1 to any charity (if you can) to help the world in crisis. Share it on socials for health, wealth, joy, happiness & success in your future & for all. Hope begins with each of us & starts w/you. Now I challenge @dominimonroe, @gabriellekameryn, @lisa_okrags, @loveleetaylor & @robinandre to do the Lucky Cat Challenge. No prob if you don’t want to do the dance, please still consider giving $1 to any charity you want if you are able to & spread the good word to 5 other people today for some much needed fun and positivity for all. We are all one humanity and we are all in this together. Enjoy the song/dance & stay safe. ~ Charlie Z / DRMAGDN

Atmospheric-Prog Rock Act Itayil Reveals Debut Single, “Bloom”

Bloom,” the first single from Itayil, the atmospheric-prog rock solo project of CanaItayil Reveals Debut Single, “Bloom”dian musician David Chunn, is available today. Listen to the song now exclusively via Sea of Tranquility here.

“This song reflects on the finite nature of life, and how nothing is constant,” Chunn says. “Just as quickly as we learn and grow, we forget and the light leaves us, similar to a flower in bloom.”

Translating to “in between,” Itayil is a word that resonates with Chunn on a personal level, both in terms of lifestyle and musical influences. A scientist by day and musician by night, Chunn blends sounds from various genres to create melodies that capture the meaning of Itayil.

In a swirl of ethereal soundscapes, with “Bloom” Chunn creates an immersive experience that ventures beyond sound and into the mind. Trained in piano and guitar, Chunn is a self-taught vocalist who cites Alcest, Tesseract and Tame Impala as influences.

“But I’m constantly trying to find new inspiration in any genre,” he adds.

Chunn previously served as vocalist for Calgary-based band Vallite and has appeared as a guest on tracks by Every Hour Kills, Depths of Titan and Gaia.

Ferocious “Beauty-Core” Trio GFM (Gold Frankincense & Myrrh) Debut New Video for Joey Sturgis-Produced Single “Taking Over”

GFM (Gold Frankincense & Myrrh), a trio of teenage sisters who have already mastered the art of balancing a Paramore style of melodicism with a Slipknot-like ferocity, have debuted a new video for the single “Taking Over.” “Taking Over” is premiering today, exclusively via Alternative Press.

“’Taking Over’ is a song about standing up for yourself and for others,” says bassist/vocalist Maggie English. “We’re not taking no for an answer and nothing is going to stand in our way. The time to join Team GFM is now before it’s too late.”

Visualizing the young band’s sound, which they have dubbed “beautycore,” director Dale Resteghini juxtaposes images of military tanks emblazoned with GFM’s pink logo with aggressive performance footage of the band in their trademark pink GFM cheerleader uniforms, as the sisters proclaim, “Get up, stand tall If we fall, then we fall together/Take your shot, the best you got/We won’t stop, and we’re taking over.”

“The girls crushed the video,” Resteghini says. “I love helping hot new bands breakthrough the noise. One listen to the single ‘Taking Over,’ I knew I had to do this. These young girls have already shown they can handle the rigors of tour life and are destined for greatness!”

The Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men, The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria) produced “Taking Over” is the second single from an upcoming EP.

“Prepare to hear GFM at their heaviest,” says Sturgis. “Working on this song was all about capturing the girls at their heaviest moment, shattering your ears while allowing their melodic ability to continue to shine through the rubble.”

Catch GFM Now on the First Ever Social Media E-Tour

While spending time at home during the quarantine, the trio is finding unique ways to connect with Team GFM. GFM is hosting the first ever “e-tour,” virtually touring a variety of different social media pages and platforms. The first round of tour dates have been announced on GFM’s social media pages, with more dates quickly being added. An entire acoustic performance will be featured along with a Q&A session during each livestream. Additionally, fans with a good eye will notice a phone number within the artwork for “Taking Over.” This Easter egg is an active number that is being used as fun and unique way to interact with fans.

GFM’s first album, Identity Crisis, was released in 2016, followed by Oh, The Horror! in April 2019. Baroness Share “Tourniquet (Socially Distant)” Video

Baroness share a new video for the song “Tourniquet”. Dubbed “Tourniquet (Socially Distant)” the footage features the four band members playing the six-and-a-half minute song at their respective homes, showcasing the band’s ability to both socially isolate and come together to share the message of unity amidst the COVID-19 crisis. Watch the video here.

The band issued a collective comment:

Hey everyone! Here’s an as-live-as-possible performance of ‘Tourniquet’ that we made over the course of a couple days during this period of isolation.

We have all maintained a rigid policy of social-distancing since becoming aware of this pandemic; which has unfortunately deprived us of our much preferred means of playing music. Throughout this crisis, the overall safety and responsibility of our global human community far outweighs the individual value of any show, festival or tour. We’re refocusing and redoubling our energy to adapt to this situation as it unfolds.

As difficult as it seems to navigate the effects of this virus, the isolation has not stripped us of our passion for Baroness’ music. Playing music so far from our bandmates will never be particularly natural. However, the experience of making this video through emails, texts and phone calls has been a powerful reminder of how inspiring and invigorating music can be in times of stress, struggle and confusion.

We hope you enjoy this performance. It isn’t meant to highlight musical perfection or precision. Personally, it serves as a reminder that, no matter what situation we face, we are still able to enjoy friendship, family and community through something as simple as a song. Isolated but never alone… Baroness.

The video closes with a message to fans: “Be safe. Be good to each other. Act with personal and civic responsibility. We’ll see you again soon.”

Tourniquet” is featured on the album Gold & Grey, which arrived in June of 2019 with Stereogum saying the collection “is the best thing Baroness has ever done… a masterpiece,” NME declaring it “a work of art in the truest sense of the word” and NPR, noting the synchronicity between Baroness’ music and imagery, observing that “Gold & Grey feels like a callback to the heyday of the rock album as art object.” The 17-track release debuted atop Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums Sales and Independent Albums’ Charts and found the band gracing the covers of both Revolver and Kerrang! magazines. Baroness has taken fans behind-the-scenes into the making of the Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, At War With The Mystics) produced album, releasing an 11-part web series dubbed “Making Gold & Grey”. Watch here.

The Philadelphia-meets-New York based band have grown to be one of rock music’s most critically-revered as well as one of the most inventive artists of the modern era with each release in their kaleidoscopic canon seeing the band further defining their unique musical vantage point. Baroness’ catalog of studio recordings is: Gold & Grey (2019), Purple (2015), Yellow & Green (2012), Blue Record (2009), Red Album (2007), A Grey Sigh in a Flower Husk (Split LP, 2007), Second (EP, 2004) and First (EP, 2004).
